The Binchois Consort presents the modern premiere of an anonymous Scottish Mass from the Carver Choirbook (National Library of Scotland).

This beautiful work is paired with others from the same manuscript, showcasing royal Marian devotion in the 16th-century. ‘This outstanding consort’ (The Guardian) recently recorded these works for Hyperion, using VR to reconstruct the acoustic of the Linlithgow Palace Chapel in the court of James IV. Andrew Kirkman, the Consort’s director, gives a pre-concert talk introducing the research behind the reconstruction project, with interactive VR headset demonstrations during the interval.
