This programme takes its title from a page of John Courtney’s well-thumbed diary, written in rapture after a concert.
Courtney was a gentleman with a deep love of music, and his diary recounts his musical experiences in 18th-century Yorkshire and London. This programme explores the music of the concerts, balls and plays in Courtney’s world, including music by Corelli, Sammartini, Handel, and Bach.
(The Arts Desk)"An ensemble with equal capacity for elegant pathos and rip-roaring technical dexterity."
