Songwriter James Yorkston brings his long standing, eclectic night from deepest Fife to the heart of Edinburgh.

“With 'Tae Sup wi’ a Fifer', I just try and mix things up, keeping the line-ups interesting, not one particular genre or theme to a night… A lot of the people I ask to play are friends who I’ve nown for years, or just people I’ve met on the road whose music has taken to me. It’s a’ braw though, and when programming Tae Sup, I start with Who would I like to see play? and work from there…” (James Yorkston)

These are intimate, multi-act shows, opening with a few songs by James Yorkston and hosted in the snug of The Queen's Hall's new performance space. There is some unreserved seating on a first-come-first-served basis then standing space.

Special guest performers:

Kinbrae & Clare Archibald: Their 'Birl of Unmap' collaborative project brings together their individual interests in place, experimentation and layers of practice. Utilising their links to and ideas of Fife, the project responds to St Ninian's: a former open cast mine and Charles Jencks land art site near Kelty.

Liz Lochhead & Andrew Wasylyk: 'Still Life, Sweetheart' is a collaboration between poet Liz Lochhead and musician Andrew Wasylyk. Liz Lochhead is a Glasgow-based writer and the former Makar (The National Poet Of Scotland) from 2011-2016. Andrew Wasylyk is a Scottish musician and producer who has conceived and contributed to over twenty albums to date, including with indie-pop group The Hazey Janes and electronic-experimental duo Art Of The Memory Palace.

J Wright Presents: The electronic-ish alter ego of songwriter James Yorkston. James' has been using tape loops, analogue drum machines, field recordings and actual instruments to produce long, filmic pieces, and his debut vinyl album under this moniker was released late in 2021.
