Mystery Hearts is the musical project of Scottish songwriter and guitarist Mark Lewis Heavenor. Drawing on flamenco-influenced fingerstyle guitar, English folk, and alternative folk, the music combines intricate guitar work with lyrical songwriting and richly textured arrangements.

His debut EP introduced a distinctive voice within the British alternative folk scene: songs that are melodic and intimate at their core, yet shaped by Heavenor’s fluid and expressive guitar style. The recordings take dynamic cues from the junkyard found-sound atmospheres of Tom Waits and the expansive ensemble textures of artists such as Feist and Grizzly Bear. Heavenor’s writing often explores spiritual themes, memory, and place, with imagery reminiscent of Steinbeck and Gabriel García Márquez.

For this special concert at Broughton St Mary’s, Mystery Hearts will be joined by fellow songwriters Rory Butler, William Jaquet (Beaten Docket), and Ada Francis. Having grown up together musically, the four artists share a long-standing creative relationship. Performing collectively under the name Red Record Suite, they will move fluidly between solo moments and band work.
