Mark Lewis Heavenor is a Scottish songwriter, composer, and guitarist. His eponymous debut EP released in November 21 marked a bold and unique entrance to the British alternative folk scene.
The record features five songs that are at heart, deeply melodic and lyrical, yet are held within the angular and fluid expressions of his guitar style: one that is based on his background in flamenco and his love of fingerstyle. The production takes clear dynamic cues from the junkyard found-sound blooms of Tom Waits and the rich ensemble arrangements of Feist and Grizzly Bear records. His music is deeply spiritual in its themes and Heavenor is unabashed in expressing so. With imagery resembling Steinbeck and Gabriel García Márquez, each song details a series of kaleidoscopic glances at feeling and place, memory and hope. He is also the main songwriter in the band Blue Goose who supported Snowgoose in the Queens Hall in October 2024 Mark's songwriting has inspired praise from some of BBC Radio Scotland's biggest presenters: Ricky Ross (Deacon Blue), Iain Anderson, Roddy Hart, and Kathleen MacInnes.
His concert at Broughton St Mary’s will include special guest artists who will be listed here once confirmed in solo and joint sets.
