The Scottish Premiere of Erland Cooper’s new album, paired with a programme of contemporary classical string music from Scottish Ensemble.

“If geology could speak its dreams and geography could sing in its sleep, then this is what it would sound like” Simon Armitage

'Folded Landscapes' is the fourth studio album by Orkney-born composer Erland Cooper – dubbed "Nature’s Songwriter" by The Guardian for his compositions describing the earth and its landscapes.

Recorded in collaboration with Scottish Ensemble, 'Folded Landscapes' presents Cooper’s observations on climate change, and his belief in finding solutions to complex and urgent problems…between despair and the spirit of hope.

This collaborative concert experience will feature a full performance of the album, paired with a programme of contemporary classical string music.

The programme, curated by Scottish Ensemble’s Artistic Director Jonathan Morton, includes works by Caroline Shaw, Jonny Greenwood, Bryce Dessner and more – all of which explore the natural world and landscape through music and enhance the experience of Cooper’s compositions.

Experience this incredible collaboration between one of Scotland’s most unique musical voices, and Scotland’s leading string ensemble.

Concert lasts 120 minutes with intervals.

Presented by Scottish Ensemble and Erland Cooper
