What is Caledonian Soul?
In "Blue Rose Code Presents 'This Is Caledonian Soul’" - produced in association with Made In Scotland* - Ross Wilson (aka Blue Rose Code) will, with the help of a 14-piece band and some very special guests, attempt to answer this question by offering his unique take on generations of cult, iconic and classic Scots song.
Average White Band original member, Hamish Stuart, triple BRIT award winner Eddi Reader and the incredibly rare talent that is Duke Special will join Blue Rose Code for this event.
The Water of Leith - Blue Rose Code’s most recent release - was a BBC Radio Scotland and “The Skinny” magazine's Album of the Year. Both album and live appearances have garnered plaudits from audiences and critics alike for Wilson's intelligent, passionate and lyrical mix of folk, jazz and yes, Caledonian Soul.
*Made in Scotland is a curated showcase of high quality performance from Scotland at the world’s largest arts festival, made possible by support from the Scottish Government’s Expo Fund. It is a partnership between the Edinburgh Festival Fringe Society, the Federation of Scottish Theatre, the Scottish Music Centre and Creative Scotland.
This event has finished, but you can read more about folk music at The Queen's Hall and across Edinburgh here and find out about upcoming folk shows at The Queen’s Hall here.
