Johannes Brahms’s chamber works contain some of the composer’s most lyrical, personal music: their intimate scale belies the mighty passions that surge within them.

An internationally respected keyboard player as well as the SCO’s Principal Conductor, Maxim Emelyanychev has recorded Brahms’s three violin sonatas with his friend and compatriot, dazzling violinist Aylen Pritchin, on instruments from the composer’s own time, to huge critical acclaim.

Join Emelyanychev and Pritchin, together with some of the SCO’s finest musicians, for fresh insights into three of Brahms’s most powerful chamber pieces: the hidden love songs of the Second Violin Sonata; the muscular, symphonic-scale First Piano Trio; and the deeply felt emotions of what’s often considered the composer’s finest chamber work, the Piano Quintet.
