The Botanics’ 350 Anniversary Gala Concert

In 2020, the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh celebrates its 350th anniversary. Founded in 1670 near the Palace of Holyroodhouse as a small physic garden to supply and study plants for medicinal purposes, the Garden has grown into one of the world’s leading botanic gardens internationally renowned for its vital plant science and conservation.

To mark its 350th anniversary, the Botanics is collaborating with Dunedin Consort and The Queen’s Hall to present a programme of music that celebrates nature, from Telemann’s Water Music to Vivaldi’s Four Seasons. Any profits from the concert will help to fund the Botanic’s important work. The Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh is a Scottish Charity (No.SC007983).

Telemann: Water Music
Handel: Sweet bird from L'Allegro, il Penseroso ed il Moderato
Vivaldi: Autumn from the Four Seasons
Telemann: Violin Concerto, Die Relinge (the Frogs)
Scarlatti: Bella Madre dei Fiori
Handel: Hush thou, pretty warbling choir, from Acis & Galatea

Presented by the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh in association with Dunedin Consort
