Formed under the midnight sun in the Lofoten Islands in 2006, the Engegård Quartet has become one of Norway's most sought after ensembles.
Their bold, fresh interpretations of the classical repertoire combined with a deep attachment to their native roots has attracted international acclaim and inspired some innovative partnerships and programming. For tonight's concert they bring with them one of Norway's leading Hardanger fiddlers Nils Økland to provide a Scandinavian counterpart to one of the masterworks of the string quartet tradition, Schubert's 'Death and the Maiden'.
