The city that never sleeps – and whose music dazzles and inspires.

Hugo Ticciati joins a hand-picked group of SCO musicians to weave together some of the most exciting music by his friends and colleagues in America’s most vibrant city – and from closer to home.

Nico Muhly melds recorded sounds with acoustic clarinet in his witty, perky 'It Goes Without Saying', while Bryce Dessner – guitarist in indie rock band The National – draws on his Jewish heritage in his vibrant string quartet 'Aheym'.

Following, Caroline Shaw plays delicate games with Haydn in her gleaming string quartet 'Entr’acte', and Steve Reich provides a fitting urban celebration with the pulsating beauty of his multi-clarinet 'New York Counterpoint'.

Update 01/03/2022: Sadly, due to family circumstances Pekka Kuusisto will no longer be able to join the SCO for his planned Residency in March. Pekka was due to direct/perform three programmes with the Orchestra: New York Counterpoint (6 Mar), Seek The Light (10/11 Mar) and America, The Beautiful (16/17/18 Mar). Our thoughts are with Pekka and his family at this difficult time.

We are grateful that violinist/director Hugo Ticciati has agreed to step in for Pekka for the entirety of the Residency. Hugo is an acclaimed violinist, leader and conductor and has a huge passion for contemporary, non-western and traditional music alike and we hugely appreciate him joining us for these three exciting projects at such short notice.

Although most of the programmes remain unchanged, there have been some necessary changes.

Please note: This concert will have cabaret tables in the stalls area. It is not part of the Jan-May multibuy offer.

Presented by the Scottish Chamber Orchestra in association with The Skinny and EHFM
