Emily Smith presents her annual Christmas show. A beautiful blend of original and traditional songs drawn from her folk background combine to inspire and celebrate the festive season.

From humble beginnings in a rural farm shop in 2012 Emily has honed a unique, family friendly Christmas night out. In 2016 she released the accompanying album from which her song ‘Find Hope’ was play listed on BBC Radio 2. Her material has also been featured on BBC Songs of Praise Christmas and BBC Radio 2 Folk Show Christmas specials.

Sing along with traditional carols, tap your toes to upbeat instrumentals or simply close your eyes and let Emily’s evocative voice help you dwell on the joy and peace that Christmas can bring.

Emily will be joined by her band: Jamie McClennan: Vocals, Guitar, Fiddle; Anna Massie: Vocals, Guitar, Viola and Ross Hamilton: Vocals, Bass.

Tonight's special guest is Gaelic / Scottish singer, television presenter and actress, Kathleen MacInnes.

In 2010, she was asked to do vocals on the soundtrack of the Hollywood blockbuster Robin Hood for director Ridley Scott who described her voice as “strong, powerful, beautiful”.

Kathleen's first album, released in 2006 to critical acclaim, was Herald On Sunday’s Folk Album Of The Year and nominated Best Album at that years’ Traditional Music Awards. Her second album won Album of the Year at the Scots Trad Music Awards in 2012 and a track from it was nominated at the BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards the following year.
