What's On / Yellowjackets + Trio Red
at The Queen's Hall
Having recently celebrated their 30th anniversary, the Grammy Award-winning Yellowjackets make their first visit to Scotland in many years. Bands come and go but there are also rarer groups like the Yellowjackets whose constant growth and change has drawn audiences and artists like Bobby McFerrin, Peter Erskine and Kurt Elling to their musical flame.
This beloved eclectic, electro-acoustic jazz band now comprises founding keyboardist Russell Ferrante, long-standing drummer Will Kennedy and bassist Felix Pastorius (yes - he's the son of the one and only Jaco).
"One of contemporary jazz's finest units…Yellowjackets have learned how to perfectly season their live sets… Magical." (Downbeat)
"perfecting a guitarless fusion that's much more sinewy than steroidal, with infusions of gospel, funk and rhythm and blues" (New York Times)
Trio Red are drawn from three of Europe's most interesting scenes and feature Scottish drummer Tom Bancroft, Norwegian bassist Per Zanussi and London pianist Tom Cawley.
"a world-class trio” (The Guardian)
