The Smiths Indeed
19 December 2010 at 8:00pmat The Queen's Hall
3.10pm, 19 Dec 2010 - Weather Update - The band have arrived safely and the show will go ahead as advertised.
The Smiths were – and for many of their fiercely devoted followers, remain to this day - far, far more than just a band. They were an attitude, a look, a whole way of life, a vital antidote to the pop culture of the 1980s. They gave a voice that was poignant, humorous and tender - but always crucial - to a whole generation. There is a light and it never goes out...
Since 2005, Liverpool’s The Smiths Indeed have eked out a reputation as worthy bearers of the torch, reproducing with uncanny accuracy the triumphant vibrancy and energy of the Smiths live experience during the mid 1980s. Belgian frontman Jurgen Wendelen is quintessentially Morrissey in sight and sound and the band have nailed the sound of Marr, Rourke and Joyce. They have developed a fierce following of their own among the notoriously hard to please hardcore Smiths fans. No mean feat.
The band’s seminal second album, Meat is Murder, will be performed here note for note, followed by an anthemic greatest hits set. For old school Smiths fans craving some well-earned nostalgia, or for the sons and heirs who missed out first time, this is the time to indulge yourself.
"A brilliant tribute to The Smiths" (i-D Magazine)
