Due to unforeseen scheduling conflicts, Straight No Chaser, has moved its first UK tour from September 2011 to February 2012. Tickets from the 2011 concert date will still be valid for the new 2012 show.
If the phrase “male a cappella group” conjures up an image of students in blue blazers, ties, and khakis singing traditional college songs, think again. Straight No Chaser are not strait-laced, straight-faced or vaudeville-style kitsch. As original member Randy Stine comments, “We take the music very seriously; we just don’t take ourselves too seriously.” In the process, they are reinventing the idea of a cappella on the modern pop landscape.
Originally formed over a dozen years ago while students together at Indiana University, the group has reassembled and re-emerged as a phenomenon with a massive fan base, over 20 million views on YouTube, numerous national TV appearances and proven success with their holiday albums Holiday Spirits and Christmas Cheers.
Three full-length albums and one EP have since followed, cumulatively selling more than half a million copies. The group has been featured on ABC World News Tonight, HLN, and Today, among others. Straight No Chaser’s third and most recent album, “With a Twist,” marked the group’s highest chart debut to date, entering the Billboard 200 at #29 upon its April 2010 release.
