WHAT'S ON / Stacey Kent
The internationally acclaimed and Grammy-nominated vocalist, Stacey Kent, returns to The Queen’s Hall with a brand new concert, featuring music from her latest album Tenderly (Sony Music / Okeh Records).
Tenderly sees Stacey return to familiar ground with her first album of standards and jazz-classics since the release of her breakthrough album of 2003, The Boy Next Door - featuring tracks such as The Very Thought of You, Tangerine, In The Wee Small Hours of the Morning and Embraceable You.
The intervening years have seen Kent broaden her repertoire to include originals written specially for her by Booker Prize winning novelist, Kazuo Ishiguro and Jim Tomlinson. Her platinum-selling, Grammy-nominated Breakfast On The Morning Tram was described in Jazz Times as a "marvellously inventive launching pad for this bold, brave new Kent”. This was followed by Raconte-Moi, Kent’s first live album Dreamer in Concert and The Changing Lights.
For Stacey, whose international touring schedule keeps her on the road for most of the year, her return to The Queen’s Hall provides a rare opportunity for UK fans see her live in concert.
"If, like me, you’ve been hoping that Stacey Kent would one day make another album of classic American songs, here it is at last ... Deceptively simple, meticulously presented, each of the 12 tracks is a little gem. Kent’s soft, light voice is as persuasive as ever, and the playing is, of course, immaculate" (The Guardian)
"She has charm to burn, a smile that could give you hope in February and sings like nobody's business" (Wall Street Journal)
"Stacey Kent has been quietly sitting on top of the world of jazz vocals, for many years" (Jamie Cullum)
