Since they formed in 1996, Solas have been acclaimed as the most influential and exciting Irish traditional band ever to have emerged from the United States. They feature some of the finest Irish musicians worldwide, including multi-instrumentalist Seamus Egan, and extraordinary fiddler Winnie Horan. The five-piece line-up also includes female vocal, guitar and accordion, ensuring that there is plenty of firepower to explore and capture the endless rhythms and complexities that make great Irish music.
The Solas sound is firmly rooted in the Irish tradition, but blends in occasional flavours from country, blues and jazz. Their authentic, yet innovative, arrangements led The Irish Times to describe them in simple terms - “One of the most exciting bands anywhere in the world” .
