Michael Brecker is amongst the most influential US saxophonists of the last 30 years and as a result of his stylistic and harmonic innovations is among the most studied contemporary instrumentalists throughout the world today. In 1974, the Brecker Brothers became one of the most innovative and successful jazz-funk fusion bands of the decade. Michael died suddenly in 2007 of leukaemia at the peak of his career but his brother Randy is keeping his music alive and the Scottish National Jazz Orchestra are delighted that he joining them for this celebration of Michael's music.
