SFF: Adam Sutherland & Friends / The Strathspey and Surreal Society

20 November 2016 at 7:30pm

Adam Sutherland comes from the Highlands of Scotland and is one of the most exciting fiddle players, composers and teachers. Outfits that Adam has been a part of include Treacherous Orchestra, Session A9, Peatbog Faeries, Babelfish and Croft no. Five. He has also played with a host of other well-known acts including Salsa Celtica and Manran. Adam’s tunes are perhaps his most impressive legacy and are played in music sessions and on youtube videos around the world!

The Strathspey and Surreal Society is a project created with the idea of writing new music based on the traditional Strathspey and Reel Society form. They premiered earlier this as part of Celtic Connections, and are now set to perform their idyllic music for you at Fiddle 2016. This group of 20+ fiddlers will perform four stunning compositions by Aidan O’Rourke, Shona Mooney, Jenn Austin and Simon Thoumire, and will be conducted by Dave Milligan. You simply cannot beat the stunning soundscape created by this stupendous collection of musicians.
