Scottish National Jazz Orchestra featuring John Scofield

5 March 2010 at 8:30pm
at The Queen's Hall

Loud Jazz & Electric Miles
Directed by Tommy Smith

John Scofield is one of the most influential and inspiring guitarists working today. As an essential component of Miles Davis’s 1980s groups, as musical partner to Pat Metheny and Bill Frisell, and as a bandleader and recording artist in his own right for thirty years, Scofield has forged an exciting, creative and wholly distinctive style.

Now he joins the Scottish National Jazz Orchestra to celebrate his own original compositions and to pay tribute to Miles through startling re-imaginations of music that defined the final chapters of the late trumpeter and jazz icon’s extraordinary career.

Playing scorching Scofield items including Go Blow and Groove Elation and Miles classics Tutu, Jean-Pierre and Splatch in specially commissioned arrangements by Florian Ross, Geoffrey Keezer, Christian Jacob, Manu Pekar, Michael Gibbs, Michael Abene, Makoto Ozone, Fred Sturm, Pino Iodice and Paul Harrison, Scofield and SNJO bring you six string magic and fabulous orchestral adventures.
