at The Queen's Hall

Stravinsky: Concerto in D
Mendelssohn: Capriccio and Fugue from Op.81 (arr. Morton)
Stravinsky: Concertino (arr. Morton)
Mendelssohn: Concerto for Piano, Violin and Strings in D minor

Scottish Ensemble are delighted to welcome back Perth-born Alasdair Beatson, to perform a concerto written by the 14 year-old Mendelssohn. At the other end of his life the composer wrote his opus 81, and this concert features two of these late masterpieces, arranged for string orchestra. The unique melting pot of exquisite neo-classical sophistication and primeval rhythmic energy in Stravinsky’s music completes the other half of this concert.
