Jonathan Morton and Clio Gould, violins and RSAMD strings
Scottish Ensemble celebrate the opening of their 40th anniversary Scottish Season with a programme that ranges from the baroque to the 20th century. We also welcome the return of Clio Gould, who joins Jonathan Morton in one of JS Bach’s most famous works, the Concerto in D minor for 2 violins. Clio is also the soloist in Berio’s Corale, written in 1975 but also a homage to JS Bach and the violin. Senior students from the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama will join the Ensemble ‘Side by Side’ in Vaughan Williams’ deeply spiritual work for double string orchestra, Fantasia on a Theme by Thomas Tallis, and Tippett’s exuberant and joyful Concerto for double string orchestra.
