Steve Reich Cello Counterpoint (Scottish premiere)

Born in Edinburgh in 1987, Peter Gregson is a cellist and pioneer of contemporary music. He has performed widely in the UK and the US, at venues ranging from the Royal Albert Hall, London to the Ingleby Gallery, Edinburgh; from the Kodak Theater, Los Angeles to Trinity Church, Boston. In this solo cello recital he will use amplified surround sound and video projection to support a programme of new and established work including the Scottish premiere of Steve Reich's Cello Counterpoint.

2010 looks to be a breakthrough year for Peter. He was recently commissioned by Bowers & Wilkins and Peter Gabriel to record an album of original music for acoustic and electric cellos for their Society of Sound label. His work has been recognised with the Glenfiddich Spirit of Scotland Award for Music and with membership to the Courvoisier Future 500. Peter is also the 2010/11 Creative in Residence at The Hospital Club, London, where he curates his year long series, alt-classical. He will also perform at acclaimed and varied venues such as M.I.T. Media Lab (Boston), The Roundhouse (London), 92nd St Y (NYC), Twitter (San Francisco) and Kings Place (London).
