Mikhail Pletnev: piano

Compelling conductor, virtuoso pianist and respected musical thinker, Mikhail Pletnev is an extraordinary all-round musician – and celebrated for his many exceptional past performances at the International Festival.

Pletnev’s recent Edinburgh visits have often been as conductor with his own Russian National Orchestra, which he founded in 1990. However, for the 2017 International Festival, he returns to his great love, in a rare chance to experience his searching insights in an intimate piano recital. From the playful to the powerful, Pletnev is famed for his highly personal, illuminating interpretations: expect to be both charmed and inspired.
