The Queen’s Hall presents

Meadow with Tore Brunborg, Thomas Strønen & John Taylor

9 February 2012 at 8:00pm
at The Queen's Hall

Meadow are made up of some of the finest European jazz talents and their debut album Blissful Ignorance showcased their spare and thoughtful style. You could easily mistake it for the work of the legendary German label ECM and fans of Jan Gabarek, Keith Jarrett or Mathais Eick will find much to enjoy at this show.

Tore Brunborg has played saxophone with Manu Katche, Scent of Soil and the Tord Gustavsen Ensemble as well as being a renowned composer in his own right. Thomas Strønen was a founder member of the anglo-Norwegian group Food with Iain Bellamy and has worked alongside Evan Parker, Mr McFall's Chamber and Tomasz Stanko. Mancunian John Taylor first came to the attention of the jazz audience when he partnered John Surman and Alan Skidmore. Since then his piano has featured alongside a who's who of the world's musical elite such as Jan Garbarek, Gil Evans, Cleo Laine and Ronnie Scott.

"an economy and selflessness that are refreshingly distanced from those who feel it necessary to assert their personalities through overt virtuosity. Instead, the success of Meadow and Blissful Ignorance is predicated in its focus on the song, the sound, the melody and the collective." (All About Jazz)
