WHAT'S ON / Mary Coughlan

The Queen's Hall & Acoustic Music Centre

Mary Coughlan

25 August 2012 at 7:00pm
at The Queen's Hall

If there were prizes for authenticity in music, Mary Coughlan would need a trophy room. Her chaotic personal life - an almost-fatal mix of alcohol, broken relationships, bad business, personal demons and public showdowns - has flowed through her music for 25 years. Fortunately, Coughlan began straightening her personal life out in the mid-90s, and as well as signing a new recording contract with Big Cat Records, she has also written her autobiography Bloody Mary.

Her most recent album The House of Ill Repute reunites her with Erik Visser, whose previous work with Mary has inspired them both to career best performances on Tired And Emotional and After The Fall.

“Mary Coughlan is Irish musical royalty” (The Guardian)
