Mary Chapin Carpenter is an American folk and country music artist with an enviable track record. She's scored 12 Top 10 hits, four No 1 singles, five Grammy Awards and is the only artist to have won four consecutive Grammy Awards for Best Female Country Vocal Performance, which she received from 1992 to 1995.

She has been touring and recording since her 1987 debut album Hometown Girl. 1989's State of the Heart and 1990's Shooting Straight in the Dark each produced four Top 20 hits on the Billboard country singles charts. Carpenter's most successful album to date remains 1992's Come On Come On, which yielded seven charting country singles and was certified quadruple platinum in the USA for sales exceeding four million copies. This year, Mary Chapin released her 12th album, The Age of Miracles, which she began writing in the summer of 2007 during her recovery from a life threatening pulmonary embolism and calls it a personal exploration of regret and resilience.

Tift Merritt was last seen at The Queen's Hall in Jan 2009 when she performed an astonishing opening set at Teddy Thompson's show. Arrive early and don't miss her.
