This showcase of young musicians was originally scheduled for December 2010 but got waylaid by the severe weather so we're delighted to get it in our diary for 2011.
Special Guest: Mairi Campbell
Eat Dr. Ape is an alternative rock band from Scotland, who met and banded together at college in 2008. Their fusion of playing styles and individual musical influences ranging from blues to drum 'n' bass to metal has led them to craft a rather unique sound, which has gathered a cult following all over Scotland and a growing fan base across the rest of the UK. www.myspace.com/eatdrape
Sheila Who? are Kieran Grant (bass/backing dancing), Sean Gibbs (keys/brass/sex appeal), David Richie (guitar/thought provoking conversation), Róisín Tuohy (vocals/rapping), and Rebecca Di Rollo (drums/more cowbell). Their Debut EP – “Means To An End” (produced by CP Productions and supported by the Scottish Arts Council YMI project) was released in July this year. www.myspace.com/sheilawhomusic
Mark Heavenor shall be performing a slot inviting old and new band mates to play songs from previous projects. Confirmed musicians playing will be Nicole Ritchie, Troy Lynch, Ross Duffy, Ada Francis and Ben Docherty.
Penny Black is a 4 piece rock band from Edinburgh creating a fusion between early 2000's indie and lo-fi rock. They strive to keep things simple. Melody is important to the band as well as rich harmonies which come across in the bands EP 'Penny Black.' www.myspace.com/pennyblackedin
Rory Butler is a young singer/songwriter from Glasgow. With the combination of intricate acoustic guitars and compelling vocals, Rory's songs are most reminiscent of artists such as John Martyn and Nick Drake.
Mairi Campbell is well known for her collaboration with Dave Francis in their band The Cast who gained international prominence with their performance of Auld Lang Syne in Sex and the City. Mairi is now establishing a solo career showcasing her own material with an album soon to be released.
