What's On / Jack Liebeck and Katya Apekisheva

Professor Brian Foster presents

Jack Liebeck and Katya Apekisheva

5 March 2009 at 7:45pm

Jack Liebeck (“a renaissance in the forgotten art of personalised violin playing”) and Katya Apekisheva (piano) play a programme with Einstein connections, linking to the afternoon 'Einstein's Universe' lecture.  Einstein played the Mozart Sonata and gave the first performance on the Martinu pieces, of which he was a dedicatee.  He also played the Back Sonata and is known to have studied the Brahms Sonatas.  The final work is Stravinsky's coruscating arrangement of his own ballet music.

W A Mozart - Sonata in E minor KV304

B Martinu - Five Madrigal Stanzas

J Brahms - Sonata No3 in D minor, Op108

J S Bach - Sonata No1 in B minor, BWV 1014

I Stravinsky - Divertimento
