28 August 2010 at 11:00amBeethoven: Piano Sonata in E flat Op 27 No 1
Ives: Piano Sonata No 2 ‘Concord’
Ives’s Concord Sonata is named after a New England town where a remarkable group of inventors, philosophers, poets and writers lived and worked in the middle of the 19th century.
In the Concord Sonata Beethoven’s influence on Ives is clear. Beethoven’s Sonata reflects his own personal turmoil in the early 1800s.
