The Queen’s Hall presents

Breabach

3 March 2012 at 8:00pm
at The Queen's Hall

Powered by double bagpipes, flute and fiddle, the uncompromising force of Breabach is further fuelled by the tight groove of double bass, guitar and step-dance. The group’s  musicianship and adaptability is elegantly displayed through the thoughtful arrangement and delivery of songs. Their repertoire effortlessly fuses the traditional and contemporary  andunderlines their commitment and passion for their musical heritage but also displays a willingness to explore and challenge those boundaries.

Recent line-up changes have given the band a new edge, and it is little wonder Breabach received nominations for Best Group at both the 2011 BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards and the Scots Trad Music Awards. Their recent appearance at The Queen's Hall during the Scots Fiddle Festival was a highlight of the weekend (see YouTube video below of their final barnstorming set of tunes).

Breabach are Calum MacCrimmon (pipes, whistles and vocals), Ewan Robertson (vocals and guitar) James Lindsay (double bass), Megan Henderson (fiddle, vocals and step-dance) and James Duncan Mackenzie (pipes and flute).
