News / John McCusker - Under One Sky

Under One Sky is the latest album and tour from renowned Scottish musician, composer and producer John McCusker. Joined by a dozen talented British musicians, including Gaelic beauty Julie Fowlis, Idlewild’s Roddy Woomble and Blur’s Graham Coxon, Under One Sky is an exploration of the various traditions, styles and influences on today’s UK folk scene.

McCusker brings together a top notch instrumental line-up of Andy Cutting (diatonic accordion), Ian Carr (guitar), Emma Reid (fiddle), Iain MacDonald (bagpipes/whistles/flute), Ewen Vernal (bass), Roy Dodds (percussion) and English singers John Tams and Jim Causley. Each musician brings their own unique style to the mix, linked by McCusker’s expert composition.

It’s a big band. John noted in a recent interview with The List: “we can make a massive sound, but we don’t have to play all the time. Less is more, and we try to make every note count."

John and his ensemble play the finale of the Under One Sky tour in The Queen’s Hall on the 8th December 2008, tickets for this unmissable gig are available now.

The Under One Sky album is due out in February 2009 on the Navigator Records label.
