NYOS Senior Orchestra is the vibrant and ambitious orchestra for young musicians aged 12 and over, aspiring to become members of the National Youth Orchestra of Scotland. Following the glowing reception afforded to its opening season in 2013 and under the baton of the energetic James Lowe, NYOS Senior Orchestra is set for a stunning series of performances with two of Europe’s most brilliant young soloists and as part of the biggest event during the opening weekend of the Commonwealth Games Cultural Celebration.
Despite being just 21 years old, Benjamin Grosvenor is one of the most recognisable pianists in the world today. A former winner of the BBC Young Musician keyboard final, Grosvenor has appeared at the First Night of the BBC Proms, performed solo recitals at venues including Carnegie Hall in New York and Wigmore Hall in London and become the youngest British musician ever to sign for Decca Classics. Tonight he will perform César Franck’s ‘Symphonic Variations’ with the NYOS Senior Orchestra.
PLEASE NOTE: This performance takes place at Greyfriars Kirk, Greyfriars Place, Edinburgh, EH1 2QQ
