India Alba return to Scotland after their great tour here last November, bringing together leading Indian classical musicians Sharat Srivastava - violin, and Gyan Singh - tabla, with Scottish traditional musicians, young firebrand piper Ross Ainslie, and Nigel Richard, cittern. This new music has been cooking in the Highlands and Delhi since they met when Sharat and Gyan's group Myryga won a Fringe First in 2002. They explore the rich common ground between their two traditions - both are melodic music based round a drone. Expect the unexpected: reels and ragas for sure, but also many wild musical spaces in between.
