Prokofiev’s visionary sonatas 6, 7 and 8 from the years 1941-44 are presented in a unique opportunity to hear these masterpieces in sequence. These beautiful and brilliant works are contrasted with some extraordinary and colourful piano music from across Europe.

David Christophersen is Artistic Director of the Cambridge Concert Artists series at Cambridge’s West Road Concert Hall. Born in Oslo, he has performed as a pianist in Scandinavia, Italy, Ireland and the UK. His most recent recitals have included cycles of sonatas by Chopin, Schubert and Prokofiev, Ravel’s Gaspard de la nuit, Debussy’s Etudes and major works from the Latin American and Czech repertoires. He is currently collaborating with composer Jeremy Thurlow in several new chamber pieces. He is a founder member of the Cambridge Keystroke Quartet. His current Prokofiev cycle is being presented in major venues throughout the UK concluding in St John’s Smith Square, London.
