Lully and Corelli - friends or foes
The Bach Players present a new programme highlighting the ‘battle of the styles’ in music from France and Italy in the late seventeenth and early eighteenth centuries by its protagonists - Corelli, Muffat, Lully, Rebel and Couperin. Through this music for strings and harpsichord they explore music with which Bach would have been familiar and from which he was influenced. A wonderful evening of French and Italian baroque.
“Their concerts strike me as a gathering of friends, on which the audience eavesdrops, an atmosphere that produces consistent outstandingly musical performances” (Early Music Review - Andrew Benson Wilson)
Please note: This concert takes place at St Cecilia’s Hall, Niddry Street, Edin EH1 1LG
