“A View From The Bridge” is a compelling and exciting drama that delves into such issues as incest, manliness and justice. It is the story of Eddie, an illiterate longshoreman, and his anger towards his niece`s affection for an illegal Italian immigrant staying at his house.

The complicated relationships between these and many other characters in the play, makes “A View From The Bridge” a truly great piece of theatre. The play has ingredients of a Greek tragedy, complete with Alfieri, a narrator that fulfils the same purpose of Sophocles’ chorus from his plays about Oedipus and Antigone.

“A View From The Bridge” is also a direct response to the divisions caused by the House UnAmerican Activities Committee. Eddie Carbone`s betrayal might echo the influential betrayal by Miller`s friend, Elia Kazan (to the HUCA) which Miller considered shameful.

PLEASE NOTE: This performance takes place at the Church Hill Theatre, Morningside Road, Edinburgh EH10 4DR
